Surgery
Kidney Transplantation (KT) is the most preferred standard of care for patients with end-stage renal disease. Open surgery, i.e., making a large incision, has traditionally been used for kidney transplants. However, in recent times, the treatment has been performed using minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Robot-Assisted Kidney Transplantation (RAKT) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses robotic support to accomplish kidney transplantation. Because KT and Robotic Surgery require a high level of expertise, RAKT is conducted by transplant surgeons who have received substantial training and experience in both fields.
We have specialists who specialise in Robotic Partial Nephrectomy, and Dr. Kishore received his fellowship training at the University of Miami under the pioneers of Robotic Surgery and Urooncology. After working in the United States for a few years, he returned to India to launch the Aster Medcity Robotic Programme. He started Robotic Kidney Transplant in Aster Medcity in 2015 and also is the 4th person in the World to complete 100 Robotic Kidney Transplants. To date, he has performed 350 Robotic Kidney Transplants with a 100% surgical success rate.
